Ken Long's Poetry
A Man on A Mission
A man on a mission,
One thing on His mind
To show us the way,
Death and hell to bind.
He left His home above,
To come to earth below,
Took on a human body,
Love and blood did flow.
To the cross He went,
We all put Him there,
The Lamb was lifted up,
Suspended in the air.
Angels were all around Him,
Ready to take Him down,
He never gave that command,
So forgiveness could be found.
An Unseen Battle
An unseen battle
Fought across the ages,
Spiritual warfare
Around each of us rages.
In another dimension,
Something we cannot see,
A war being fought
For you and for me.
Good versus evil,
Right versus wrong,
"Amazing Grace,"
Our victory song.
John, Peter, and Paul,
And other soldiers too,
Tried to prepare us
For what we must do.
Fought on our knees,
This battle is intense.
Prayer is our ally,
The Bible our defense
A Soldier Alone
He was a soldier alone
There on the cross.
Behind enemy lines,
Our gain, His loss.
Legions of angels
Stood ready for war,
Waiting for one moment,
One thought of no more.
That command never came,
He never gave in,
He gave himself freely,
To atone for our sin.
He laid down his life,
For you and for me.
He was a soldier alone
There on that tree.
A Grain of Sand
Just a small grain of sand
Along the river side,
I saw John the Baptist
Wade out into the tide.
Small and good for nothing,
Overlooked every day,
Till this man named Jesus
Touched my life, came my way.
He came to the Jordan,
Righteousness to fulfill.
Part of His Father's plan,
Just following God's will.
His touch was very slight,
But strength it did contain,
Like a breath of fresh air,
Coolness after the rain.
I'm still a grain of sand,
But I am God's sand now.
He can touch your life too,
Make all things new somehow.
